The Worry Cleanse
A two-week experiment in disciplined optimism.
“I’ve had a lot of worries in my life, most of which never happened.” — Mark Twain
We spend an extraordinary amount of time worrying about futures that never arrive.
Not because there is something wrong with us but because we’re overstimulated. We consume constant news, opinions, content. Our nervous systems are flooded. The brain starts scanning for what might go wrong simply because it’s been trained to expect disruption.
So here’s the experiment:
For the next two weeks, you’re on a worry cleanse.
You are not allowed to worry about anything that is not actively happening in real time.
If a thought pops up… “what if this falls apart, what if they’re upset, what if I mess it up…” you simply respond, “I’m on my worry cleanse. I’ll deal with that if it actually occurs.” And then you deliberately redirect your focus to something useful, grounding, or positive.
Not neutral. Positive.
Choose a better thought on purpose.
Joe Dispenza says that every time you choose a more elevated thought, you move yourself a 10% closer to the future you actually want. That shift compounds, thought by thought.
This is not avoiding reality, it’s productive mental training.
We’ve become so accustomed to bracing ourselves; to rehearsing tension and preparing emotionally for outcomes that haven’t happened. The worry cleanse is about retraining your brain to default to possibility instead of protection.
Peace is a practice.
When a real problem arises, you will handle it. You always do! But until something is real, you don’t need to carry it. You don’t even need to feel it, and you don’t need to try to solve it preemptively.
Instead, you can choose presence. & you can choose gratitude. You can look forward to outcomes better than you imagined.
The Three Rules of the Worry Cleanse
No pre-suffering. If it’s not happening right now, it doesn’t get emotional energy.
Redirect upward. The moment a worry appears, consciously replace it with a thought that feels expansive, grateful, or constructive.
Protect your inputs. For two weeks, limit unnecessary news, doom-scrolling, and content that feeds anxiety. Create space for calm.
Two weeks! That’s it. This is your trial period.
No rehearsed tension, no imaginary catastrophes… just deliberate optimism and disciplined peace.
Happiness doesn’t return by accident. It returns when you choose it, over and over again. Watch how much lighter you feel when you stop feeding futures that don’t exist.

Author’s note: Instead of bracing for disaster, let’s build the future we want to experience. If you’re joining me on this worry cleanse, tell me! I want to know who’s choosing peace on purpose. <3

I'm so in for this!
Wow!! I am always worrying about everything and it’s exhausting… I’m choosing to let go
